This year the Opening Ceremony of the Service Learning Program was held in the Gymnasium on the OLE Day on Monday, 27 September 2021. The Principal first gave his opening remarks, encouraging Form 4 students to serve the community and help the needy in different ways. Then two F.5 students, Wong Hiu Fung (5C) and Chan Ho Ting (5C), shared their experiences about doing community service two years ago before the outbreak of COVID 19 when face-to-face visits were still possible. Right after taking the group photo and even before an official announcement could be made, all students in the gymnasium had eagerly approached the counters to sign up for their favorite services.
Various kinds of services were available for enrollment, such as:
hiking with the elderly,
telling stories to kindergarten pupils,
teaching the elderly English,
food parcel packing,
elderly visits (day care centre and home visits)
Chinese New Year gift preparation for the elderly,
helping in Inter-school Athletics Meet
service day at Crossroads (international NGO)
It is hoped that through this program, students can not only care more about the people around them, but also develop their potential and gain memorable experience serving the community.
