Service Learning Programme 2022-23

Date: 19/10/2022

TSK aims at providing whole-person education for students. As a Christian school, we hope to see our students following Jesus’ footsteps to be compassionate and willing to serve others. The Service Learning Programme, first started in 2018, provides ample opportunities for students to serve and learn.

This year, the Kick-off Ceremony was held in the Gymnasium on the OLE Day (Monday, Oct 3). Principal, Mr. Yuen, first gave his opening remarks to encourage Form 4 students to try their best to offer a helping hand. Afterwards, two F.5 students, Lee Hoi Lun (5D) and Ng Ka Long (5D), shared their experience in serving the community in various ways during the pandemic. As a highlight of the event, all students in the gymnasium then eagerly approached the counters to sign up for their favorite service learning activities, including:

  • helping in charity fairs

  • flag selling,

  • telling stories to kindergarten pupils,

  • teaching English to the elderly,

  • food parcel packing,

  • helping in dog shelters,

  • visiting rehabilitation centres,

  • Visiting the elderly (day care centres and home visits)

  • Chinese New Year gift preparation for the elderly,

  • video making,

  • beach cleanups,

  • helping in Inter-school Athletics Meet,

  • service day at Crossroads Foundation (international NGO),

  • preparing boxes of staples for the needy (Box of Hope),

  • collecting leftover bread from bakeries (Bread Runner).

It is hoped that the Service Learning Programme can be a starting point for students to experience the joy of and find blessings in helping our neighbours in need.
