Virtual Tour to Tokyo and workshops

Date: 13/06/2022

‘It is better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books.’ Unfortunately, many overseas study tours have been cancelled due to the pandemic in recent years. To overcome geographical barriers, a virtual tour to Tokyo, which was jointly organized by the ECA Committee, History Department and Liberal Studies Department, was held on 25 May 2022.
The activity began with a real-time guided tour through ZOOM to let students have an in-depth understanding of major attractions such as Sensō-ji and Tokyo Skytree. Then, students were divided into two groups and participated in the workshops of kendama(劍球) and indigo dyeing(藍染) to experience Japanese traditional craftsmanship. Both the virtual tour and the workshops offer students a new experience. It is still possible for students to experience a different culture even if they cannot physically visit the country.
